I got a Christmas card today!

My birthday card, which I never received, would have been posted at the same time. AIBU to expect delivery of my December birthday card any day now? Was the Crimbo card an odd one stuck in the bottom of a postie's bag, or are there sacks of mail from Christmas in a sorting centre somewhere?

Ooh hopefully that means the card from Nanna with the 20 quid in might actually turn up soon Grin

MurmuratingStarling · 23/03/2022 16:42

Bloody hell. It's getting earlier every year! Grin

That’s weird! I got one today too!

SpiderinaWingMirror · 23/03/2022 16:51

Maybe someone has cleaned the machines?

Our post has been so bad over the last few months that the local MP got involved.
Although it might just be very early

PupInAPram · 23/03/2022 17:13

Ha ha @Redshoeblueshoe, nope definitely very late.

@doodlejump1980 makes me think they are working their way through a mahoosive pile of mail at a depot somewhere.

The post is awful at the moment. I work for an online card retailer and 98% of our complaints are delivery issues (items sent via First Class Post) over which we have no control.

BarryKentPoet · 23/03/2022 17:32

My friend got a Christmas card yesterday too, how odd!

gogohm · 23/03/2022 17:37

My dd got her birthday card sent first week of feb yesterday ... Cardiff area for post, apparently it's particularly bad there

PupInAPram · 23/03/2022 17:39

@BarryKentPoet that makes 3 of us. It can't be a coincidence. The birthday card normally has a cheque in it, but I can hardly pay it in now if it does arrive!

Redshoeblueshoe · 23/03/2022 19:31

Of course you can cash the cheque, as the kind of person who would send one - I would have already deducted it from my balance
Happy Christmas 🌲⛄

There were a few sorting offices with lots of postmen and women off with Covid around Christmas time. Still surprises me that it took so long though.

ukborn · 23/03/2022 19:53

Mail is awful here (SW London). Not even junk mail gets delivered. I got about a dozen Xmas cards - I normally get about 40. The last one arrived early February. We get a delivery about once a week. I sent a package, at the post office, and it took 11 days to go 70 miles. The cost of stamps isn't cheap.

Sounds like they found a bag hidden away somewhere.
