I must be mad. To ask for my job back?

I posted earlier in the year re leaving my sons abusive dad after 5 years of hell.

In 2018 I worked in a pub, a really cosy and happy pub. But due to the abuse that I had to deal with I wasn’t the best employee towards the end as he was affecting every single fragment of my life, I wasn’t reliable etc, I ended up leaving but would’ve been fired anyway. I miss working there, I miss my old colleagues and I should’ve told them what was going on. They advertised on their Facebook page for staff

Would I be absolutely mad to ask for my job back? Obviously with explaining what had happened etc.

They can only say no. If you don’t ask you’ll never know, I’d explain the situation, hopefully they will give you a chance and you can prove to them how reliable and capable you are

No harm asking. 😀

No harm in asking. I think you have to seriously consider how you will feel if they say no though, as there is a good chance that they will I’m afraid. Maybe worth looking for another similar pub? Maybe you can get that happy feeling back in a place that doesn’t remember the past?

I too would go for it and if you're comfortable, explain to them how your situation before was very different to now etc.

I hope you get it Grin
Fair play to you for leaving him and starting again 👏

If you don't ask you won't get! Good luck.
