All the hearts and care and message from Margaret Miles Bramwell who seems to run a pretty tight ship? Does anyone else find it a bit much?

It can be, which is why I dont stay for the meetings. I pay to weigh in (I know I can do it at home for free, but it keeps me focussed), and to access the app/website.

SW gets a kicking quite often on here and on SM, but it works for me, and I can stay following it long term. I dont go in for the home made haribo, muller corners and tortilla chips made from lasgane sheet bollox, but following sensibly has made a massive difference for me. Almost 5 stone down, and stayed thereabouts for 2 years.

Incredible @DeltaAlphaDelta - well done seems like an understatement. I know it's effective. Just find all the caring a bit insincere.

Thanks very much. Its not easy and I find it difficult to get back into after a holiday for example, but I do get what you mean. My group is mainly older (60+ plus) women (including the group leader) and I am a male aged mid 30s, so the chat is very much aimed for them. I do find I eye roll a bit at some of the SM posts on the groups, but I just ignore.

DeltaAlphaDelta · 22/03/2022 14:58

A lot of my group dont lose anything but enjoy the social side, so the weight loss seems incidental to them.

ElsasFatterCousin · 22/03/2022 15:18

I think I will take your lead @DeltaAlphaDelta and perhaps join again and just pop in and out for weigh-ins.

Our consultant is lovely, not pushy or schmaltzy just very encouraging and supportive. She's lost - and kept off - almost 10 stone herself on SW. I've lost 2 stone so far.

LottyD32 · 22/03/2022 15:47

I've always found them to be salespeople. A bit mlm. I gave up ww because the woman just wanted to sell us stuff.

cadburyegg · 22/03/2022 15:52

I never got that vibe - I went to a couple of meetings but didn't lose weight and all of the leaders/helpers were very overweight themselves, which didn't fill me with confidence tbh

PlumpAndDeliciousFatcat · 22/03/2022 15:53

I'm enjoying the irony of SW, queens of low-fat everything and Fry Light cooking spray, being described as 'schmaltzy'.

TopTabby · 22/03/2022 15:55

Would that be the multi millionaire Margaret Miles-Bramwell?Grin
It might be fake but it works for her!
To be fair, the principles of SW are fairly effective but it certainly can be sickly sweet & a little insincere.
Interested in the fake haribo though!

thenewduchessoflapland · 22/03/2022 15:57

My SW consultant is lovely and even admits she's gotten into trouble for not following the rules strictly all of the time but she gets good results,is supportive and easy to talk too.

If I remember correctly its sugar free jelly, or gelatine layered with fat free yoghurt. I made a batch to try them, but they were minging. But then, Im not a massive haribo fan anyway.

Me too! Pretty sure a good schmear of schmaltz would not be allowed!
ElsasFatterCousin · 22/03/2022 16:11

Ok it would be schmaltz with 100% artificial sweeteners and no actual sugar.

OP posts:
PlumpAndDeliciousFatcat · 22/03/2022 16:19

Schmaltz is chicken fat, not sugar.

ElsasFatterCousin · 22/03/2022 23:08

Yes but that's not the only definition of "schmaltzy"
