What happens next? Car/garage issues…

Just over a year ago I had a car crash that required 2 new doors, the insurance company picked the garage, I paid my excess and the work was done.

Since then the car has had to go back into the garage 4-5 times, each time for water leaking from those new doors and the last time it caused a massive mould outbreak in the car because of the water continuously dripping in…

The garage has had the car for around a month and still no end in sight…

They have suggested getting a new car however I still have quite a lot of finance left on the car I have and even if I sold it I would still have to pay around £2-3000 to clear it off.

The garage has been great in having the car back every time and fixing it and giving me a courtesy car etc, but it’s getting to the point now where if they still can’t fix it and they have caused the issue in the first place because they were responsible for fixing the car after my accident and obviously something keeps going wrong with the work they are doing - what steps can I realistically take next? Is there any further action I can take against the garage?

Contact the insurance company. If the work wasn’t done to standard and you have invoices to prove it’s the same (related) issue every time, they should pay for the extra work - or pay to have it sorted elsewhere.

Let the insurance company know they have suggested a new car, and see what the insurance company says.

I’m assuming they know it’s had to go in 4/5 times?

I hope someone more helpful comes along but that’s what I’d do.

@Em8725 I did contact the insurance company after the first couple of times but I’m no longer with that company and they no longer work with the garage (no surprises as to why!) so they said they can’t do anything else at this stage x

The thing is, they can’t pass the buck. They instructed this garage to do the work, which they didn’t do properly. Persevere with them, provide them with all the evidence you have.

I’m not sure what else you can do with regards to the garage, I don’t think there’s a way you can make them do it properly. Have you paid each time or have they done the work for free?
