To expect dentist to ask me before doing £50 x-ray?

I had a dental check up last week, I have had some mild tooth pain which I explained to the dentist. She said she will check my teeth and then do an x-ray and the cost is £10 per x-ray. She struggled with doing the x-ray as she couldn't fit the thing in my mouth properly so she said nevermind we will just do a full mouth x-ray. When I went to pay it came to more than I had though....but it's been so long since I had been to the dentist I just though it must be an expensive dentist....but no the x-ray cost £50- she didn't mention this when doing it!! AIBU to expect her to off asked if I was okay with a £50 x-ray when I had been told it would cost £10?

Well I would have refused to pay it. Did you pay for it?

Yes she should have told you the cost first
Did you pay up or quibble ?

I’ve been before with no problems and dentist asked if I wanted an xray but I turned it down due to cost and not having problems

This seems to be a standard charge for dental x rays, to be fair my vet charges £80 for an x ray. I honestly believe that dentists will soon only cater for rich people and we've a huge crisis brewing.

You should have been told the price upfront and agreed before it happened.

You can refuse to pay or complain.

Our dentist doesn't charge for x-ray as it's like taking a digital photo, there's virtually no marginal cost to it at all. £10 per x-ray is just ridiculous.
