facebook stories and rocking back and forth videos

Posting here for traffic sorry. Does anyone else find them extremely annoying? Yes I know I should scroll past and not react, and generally I do, but i'm finding people posting more and more of these back and forth show off videos, or posting FB stories just so they can see the 'view count' on them. What has happened to people! so so sad... If anyone does this please stop it now, it looks so showoffish, narcissistic and pathetic. JMO

I don't think I've seen any videos of people rocking back and forth. Why are they posting it?

concernedalot · 21/03/2022 01:03

I've no idea, it's like a short video clip. like 3 seconds. Normally of someone pouting and showing their physique. Or it might be a photo of food. I suspect it is supposed to be an 'edgier' way of showing what you're doing, or instead of taking a selfie or something, i've no idea, but it's not easy to look at, and doesn't look as cool as people think it does

My Facebook stories are mostly ads. The local baseball team posted one about spring training. That's it though.

Jinglebellsoncake · 21/03/2022 01:15

Boomerangs have been around for years!
They aren't very popular these days though.
Stories are just a quick, temporary snippet into your friends lives.

The 'view count' is only visible to the person who posted it, on Facebook stories. So it's really not as "showoffish" as you think...

RobertSmithsLipstick · 21/03/2022 01:20

I can't picture the rocking vids.
Are they likely to have examples on youtube?
Is the person rocking, or the thing they're showing off?

Smokeahontas · 21/03/2022 01:24

It’s a very short clip on repeat, called a boomerang. They’re not actually rocking back and forth. But if it’s triggering you that much, come off social media or stop viewing peoples stories. Easy enough.

FlissyPaps · 21/03/2022 01:38

Back and forth!! Sorry but that made me LOL.
I love a Boomerang! They’re more common on Insta though.

If you feel that strongly about them just don’t go on social media. You don’t have to click on them.
If people want to see their view counts that’s on them. Shouldn’t really affect you though Hmm

lemonnandliime · 21/03/2022 02:04

Howling at your description of a boomerang GrinGrinGrinGrin

PartyPlan · 21/03/2022 02:16

The whole point of Instagram is showofffish. Unless your content is cleaning, no one is going to post mundane shit like them loading the dishwasher, are they?

It doesn’t sound like a place you would enjoy.

DoggyIntrigue · 21/03/2022 02:16

Rocking back and forth videos Grin

I thought you meant some new craze for videos of people actually rocking back and forth, arms wrapped round their knees, and was really surprised wondering what it was for Grin

redfairy · 21/03/2022 06:11

Don't look at Denise Welsh's IG then. Boomerangs are the only things she knows how to do.

ManateeFair · 21/03/2022 09:38

Bit of an overreaction to something you’re in no way obliged to watch? Calm down.

MrsTimRiggins · 21/03/2022 09:41

If you don’t like social media, don’t use it. It’s that simple.

Handsnotwands · 21/03/2022 09:45

i don't watch stories on principle. i'm not sure what principle but once i get an idea in my mind.....

Handsnotwands · 21/03/2022 09:48

oh and similarly, i don't tiktok but they get cross posted sometimes, what's with the one potato two potato greece shimmy thing when people answer inane Q's about their lives?
