Shamelessly posting here for traffic, really sorry
I'm 1 week post surgery. I have my follow up tomorrow but have no idea what to expect other than xray?
Does it hurt when the wires are removed?
And did you get put in another cast after removal? Any info would be greatly appreciated especially regarding timeframes
I'm expecting I think around 6 weeks of wires but no idea of anything beyond that and just curious.
Thanks

My little boy had a k-wire when he broke his arm a couple of year ago.

I think he had it out a few months later. It was fairly straightforward I think. I don’t remember him complaining that it was painful or anything. It was done under GA.

Are they the thinnish wires that have an end sticking out? If so, my son had them six or seven years ago when he broke his wrist. They were put in under GA and then the plaster was put on top. They were removed at the same time as the plaster. I think the nurse just pulled them straight out - no anaesthetic or anything. It was very quick and I don't recall DS complaining (and he was only around 5 at the time) so it can't have been too bad. I imagine that depending on location or complexity some might be removed with anaesthetic?
