Our sofas have died. Where is the bear place to find non-leather/ fake leather sofas ?

IKEA?
My parents have 15 yr old ikea sofas and they are still bloody solid. No sinking! My DFS sofas bought 8yrs ago started sinking from year6.

Does anyone have sofas from Amazon?

I think we’ll struggle to maintain fabric sofas as my 6yr old twins are wild !

Yes.

This is weird - I was thinking about this very topic only yesterday. My fabric sofa is only six and a half years old, but hasn’t lasted well. I prefer not to buy animal products, so was thinking about faux leather - but I worry they’ll look cheap.

Anybody have nice ones they can show me?

@WalkingOnTheCracks

Yes.

I can't stand leather sofas now. Freezing cold in winter and you stick to them in summer. Would rather pay to refabic(?) or use throws over a fabric sofa now

Imabouttoexplode · 20/03/2022 15:33

The one you linked to is truly hideous in every way.

OnaBegonia · 20/03/2022 15:35

I have an Ikea Ektorp fabric corner sofa, you can buy replacement cushion covers and are easily washable, this one is 12 years old and survived 4DC and 4 dogs!
Leather type get marked easily, got rid of one for this sofa.

EmpressCixi · 20/03/2022 15:36

Fake leather always looks cheap imho. I’d opt for fabric but with removable washable covers or fabric treated with a stain protectant. You can always get a handheld steamer to clean up spots.

bluechameleon · 20/03/2022 15:49

We have the Ikea Ektorp too. We've had the sofa about 12 or 12 years and it is still fine. We are on the second set of covers because the first ones (dark blue) faded after a few years.

Lindaloo08 · 20/03/2022 16:04

Dont get fake leather, it will eventually start to come off. Ours is dreadful now after 7 years, i would never get fake again. I'm getting a fabric couch for my next, getting it Scotch guarded and I'll deal with the stains. We have small kids here too

WalkingOnTheCracks · 20/03/2022 16:24

Seeing that my son inherited my gene for clumsy, I bought a sofa and chair that were exactly the same colour as bolognese sauce.

PlumpAndDeliciousFatcat · 20/03/2022 16:28

I would get fabric sofas with removable washable covers, personally. Ikea EKTORP, or SofaSofa, who have quite a wide range of loose cover sofas and are all made in the UK.

Fetamore · 21/03/2022 15:51

We have second hand leather, but very high quality. They cost us a few hundred, but would have originally cost thousands. I think they'll probably last forever, definitely longer than us.

Fake leather flakes off, so looks terrible after a while and there's nothing you can do about it.
Washable covers are also great as long as they don't shrink.

CSIblonde · 21/03/2022 15:56

Every landlord I've ever had has put in those fake leather sofa's. They last 12 months then the fabric splits. They're ugly too. I have my own fabric sofa now, 6 yrs old & still looks new thx to big throws that I whip off if I have company .

MegaClutterSlut · 21/03/2022 16:03

Fake leather sofas are crap, as others said they flake or split

fuzzyduck1 · 22/03/2022 12:57

Fake leather sofa.
Bring back memories of my childhood with vinyl car seats. Freezing in the winter and give you burns in the summer if they were in the sun.
