I have two DS - 9&4 - both are autistic. Younger is non verbal and his understanding is significantly delayed also.

Older boy tested positive on Tuesday morning. Fine - he’s ok. The little one was sent home on Wed with very low grade fever (37.8) but was fine. Today he is very hot and lethargic. I cannot LFT him. It’s not fair and too distressing.

AIBU to take Wednesday as start of symptoms or should it be today?

YABU - Day 1 is today
YANB - Day 1 was Wednesday

I’d do a LFT when hers asleep.

You can predict the start date.

DuckyNoMates · 19/03/2022 09:36

Day 0 is the day it is identified day 1 is the day after

RebeccaCloud9 · 19/03/2022 09:37

Day 0 is first day of symptoms, so Wednesday. But I wouldn't worry too much, if you're not going to lft at all are you going for the full 10 days? By which time he almost certainly wouldn't be testing positive still anyway.

Yes - thank you - my mistake.

Not possible - he’s too sensitive and wakes up as soon as anything goes near his face.

Yes - I was going to do 10 days from last Wed but if I have to count today as day 0 then the 10 days resets.

Get him to blow his nose then test his snot - I've not done that myself but read about that on here. Are you testing positive yourself yet?

ThisTownAintBigEnoughForBoth · 19/03/2022 09:53

If he'd been ill since Wednesday I'd agree with you, but if he had low fever on Wed and then was fine until today, I think you have to count today as the first day sorry.

Merryoldgoat · 19/03/2022 09:54

@LizzieMacQueen

He can’t blow his nose and it’s not runny either.

DH and I are both negative so far but I’m assuming we’ll get it eventually? We’re both fully vaccinated and had boosters but it seems to get you anyway judging from numbers at work. Hopefully I’ll be lucky.

@ThisTownAintBigEnoughForBoth

I think you’re probably right.

Well DH and I are positive today and older son is still testing positive.

Both find the tests so distressing that we’re just going to do the full 10 days for both.
