There was a BuzzFeed article showing the completely different treatment of Kate and Megan when they did the same thing eg. Meghan criticised for touching her bump a lot while they were adoring of Kate doing it.
I showed a family member who is very anti Meghan and it still didn’t change her overall view of Meghan; some people have a bizarre hate of her

I guess we don't know that he's not lying, but he doesn't say he is broke. He says he was at the time he was asked.

And we all know the tabloids are guilty of doing much worse than this.

Of course some people will - but you could say that about any celebrity.

I’m always dubious of any ‘a source close to X’ type stories, and I do think the tabloids have enjoyed turning Meghan Markle into a pantomime villain. But my sympathy for her is minimal given how often she’s tripped over her own lies (or at least a sketchy version of the truth).

If he had lied for the cash the majority would assume he was telling the truth. Now those same people will just saying he's lying now. Can't win.

I don't think it will make any sort of difference. Even the first comment on this thread is rather sceptical of it. What I will say though is that the whole Meghan discussion really displayed how racism in the UK functions. At least other countries admit there is a 'race' problem but the UK genuinely doesn't believe it has a shred of racism. Having said all that I think that even if MM found the cure to cancer and housed all the homeless people in the UK she'd still come in for a lot of criticism. It's a shame though because her only crime ostensibly seems to be being a half black woman with the temerity to marry into royalty.

If there was an article saying they'd slept together nobody would care because nobody knows who he is.

If there's an article about him slagging off the press but not naming the paper, it gets traction because there are gaps to be filled.

I'd say he's played this cleverly to get the publicity he wants.

Yes because even if she is all the things she's criticised for eg social climber, money hungry, affected, spoilt etc so what? They are not reasons to hate a stranger.

I mean, of course it’s nothing to do with racism, it’s that she’s rude, social climbing, mean to the Queen or knew exactly what she wanted from the second she set eyes on him (not like our lovely Kate, now there’s a girl who knows her place).

The whole thing is utterly bizarre, but unfortunately these people will not take a second to question why their feelings about Meghan (a woman they have never met and has no bearing on their lives whatsoever) are so very strong that they need to devour every tabloid and criticise at every opportunity. It’s simply that they don’t like her. It’s hilarious because these same people are also the ones proclaiming that they wanted privacy so they should just disappear, when if they just stopped funding this rubbish by not clicking on every link, the stories would vanish.
