Election campaign?

Article in The Guardian titled Boris Johnson to launch two-year election campaign in May.

"The Conservative chairman has announced Boris Johnson is kicking off a two-year election campaign from this May, in a speech that hit out at “net zero dogma”..."

So Oliver Dowden is announcing a Conservative Party election campaign attacking Conservative government policies.

Is he a complete moron, or is he betting that a majority of voters are complete morons? If the latter, sadly, he's probably correct.

Oliver Dowden is not the worst cabinet minister by far. Which says a lot about the others.

People will still vote for him and their Conservative MPs in their droves , they are still popular regardless of what you may read on this forum :(
Boris Johnson is banking on this and they will just ram home 'the successes ' of being the first to get the vaccine (amongst other lies! )
The conservatives are very good at elections and winning them and not many people are that keen on the opposition either
Just my opinion, I may be wrong and two years is a long time politically speaking

Reading the full article and its references to other announcements, I think he is simply differentiating between the dogmatic and the pragmatic approach to achieving net zero. He is not dropping the target of achieving net zero. Hopefully, his comments on Labour will prove to be wrong and Labour will also adopt a pragmatic approach leaving just minority parties in cloud cuckoo land.

Dogmatic approach = fossil fuels are bad so let's turn off gas and oil now and damn the consequences.

Pragmatic approach = do it, but only when it is sensible and realistic and consequences can be managed and alleviated.
