Extra online order arrived

Basically I got a double order, first delivery never arrived, they sent a replacement. Then they sent another over two months later for no reason. Far too distant to return myself, and have been trying to organise them to collect the spare order. They are trying to make me pay for it (assuming it is expensive to collect as very heavy) but now I feel I’m a storage facility as I don’t want to buy it but they also are not making any effort to collect it, it has been two weeks now and I am short on space to store items that are not mine. I have in email form that I don’t want to buy the extra items, my card has not been charged, but as I said they just won’t commit to collecting the things.
What should I do? Surely this can’t go on indefinitely and I don’t know how long I’m obliged to mind the items for.
Any advice on a time frame?
Thank you!

Give them 14 days to collect the item and tell them after this time you will dispose of it. They should arrange for a courier to come and collect it at a time that's convenient to you, you don't have to put yourself out in any way and certainly don't have to pay for it to be returned (regardless of whether they say they'll pay you back or not).

I would do exactly as @Nicholethejewellery suggests.

I had two parcels sent to me in error by Boots during the pandemic, both addressed to me but I hadn't ordered them. I contacted them by email immediately but didn't get a reply. A couple of weeks later I emailed again, giving them a 14 day deadline to collect them after which I'd consider them mine to dispose of as I chose. Still no response so I gave them away.

It's much more annoying with a large heavy item but it's definitely their responsibility to collect it.

Thanks so much, that is what I will do! I was afraid of doing anything in case I was in the wrong to, but that’s great advice.
