I’m spending the day with someone on their birthday. They know a lot of people and every time I turn to speak to them they are responding to messages on social media. I’m finding it increasingly irritating! AIBU?

No you're not. It drives me up the wall.

I recall once stopping talking deliberately as my 'friend' was glued to her phone. She merely said " carry on, I'm listening " without even looking up at me.

This annoys me, I just stop talking and wait for them to notice
