I have a fixed term contract until the end of June 2023 i already have a 5 year old from a previous relationship and DH would like to ttc, I don't want a huge age gap so it's a bit now or never for me, I want another baby but neither me or DP are very high earners so couldn't afford for one of us to be out of work. Contract extension is very up in the air atm as it depends on funding. There may be options for me to move to a different department at the end of my contract however I wonder how likely this is if I'm not there for half it. My solution is to take say 3 months off and DH take the rest off on shared parental leave however I don't know how feasible that actually is?
Would I be crazy to ttc? Has anyone got any experience of pregnancy/mat leave on a temporary contract? Do you even get mat leave on a temporary contract?
