Posting in education too but really just for the traffic, hoping anyone has any helpful feedback on woodhouse as DS (16)has to choose by this Friday and is confused between that and his current school's sixth form - MHCHS.

Hopefully experiences from the last five years perhaps?

Thank you!

AFAIK, it's reputation has been really good for the past 25 years.

CheezerGoode thanks, yes that's true... It's just had so many negative comments too...

Dd is there in Y12. I think it's fantastic. She has a fair commute to get there - as do many - but worth it, in my opinion. It's a lovely liberal environment which is ideal for self starters like her (maybe not so much for those who need more supervision and encouragement) and will be great preparation for the independent study of university, I think.
New head started a year ago - obviously can't comment on how things have changed but she has big shoes to fill.
Happy to talk further; please PM.

Why does he need to choose by this Friday? Accept places if offered at both and decide between the two when you get the exam results in August. No need to commit now. There might be an offer holder day later in the summer.

IzzyIslington that is absolutely brilliant to hear! Thanks so much for taking the time to share her experience. Didn't know we could accept and decide later. That's so helpful!
Ah, I'm ever so pleased.

Yes, because all the offers made (at most schools, not just Woodhouse) are conditional on GCSE grades.

DD left all her friends behind too - wanted a fresh start. They do work them hard at Woodhouse; its more intensive than her previous school; a lot of homework.
