To think I’m not being a drama queen…

I am one of these people who admittedly think worst case scenario all the time and my husband is well aware of this.

He is currently on a training plan and part of that is to take pictures every week which I do for him. Last night when we took them, there was a very prominent lump in his side. He is saying it’s muscle from training but it definitely feels more squidgy.

Our docs only let you book emergency appts which he is saying is daft but I really don’t think I am being U this time! We checked the pics from last week and although you can see it now you look back, it is not as big and as prominent as it is this week.

For reference it’s on the side/back around waist height.

You'd think over time it would get smaller not bigger so whilst I wouldn't panic it is worth having it checked over just incase. For all you know it could be a small lipoma (spelling check required). We'd be guessing as we aren't doctors. Especially if it is causing you discomfort or pain get it seen.

RedHelenB · 14/03/2022 10:31

If he doesn't feel it's a worry I'd leave it.is it hurting him at all?

Coughee · 14/03/2022 10:31

I would definitely want to get that checked. It may well be nothing sinister but it really doesn't look like muscle does it?

Bunty55 · 14/03/2022 10:32

It looks like a ganglion to me. I have them on my arms and wrist and they go up and down

CounsellorTroi · 14/03/2022 10:33

Looks like a lipoma (fatty lump) to be but I’m not an expert.

Whetheryouthinkyoucan · 14/03/2022 10:36

I’d get it looked at, but not in an emergency appointment.

girlmom21 · 14/03/2022 10:37

I'd get that checked - and change GP surgery if you can.

TinselTit · 14/03/2022 10:41

Thanks everyone. Not painful at all to him which is why he is reluctant. Unfortunately the only to get an appt at our doctors is to ring at 8am and they will decide whether you can have an appointment that day. Been like that since covid!

That doesn’t look like a muscle that’s pumped from training (DH power lifts so I’ve been shown plenty!) - no idea what it could be though

lemongreentea · 14/03/2022 10:49

draw around it in marker pen to see if it grows.

can you upload photos of it to your GP using the e-consult form on your surgerys website? if you annotate the photo when sending with the area and size in cms even better.

ittakes2 · 14/03/2022 10:50

I have both a ganglion and a lipoma and it does look like one of these but I think you should get it checked out. I think in his favour is it is squishy - but still all lumps should be checked.

ConstanceGracy · 14/03/2022 10:52

Hernia ?

Gingernaut · 14/03/2022 10:56

Cyst, lipoma or possible hernia?

sorry forgot to add that i think its a dermatofibroma. not a worry and can easily be removed.
MrsClatterbuck · 14/03/2022 11:35

Dh has a similar lump which has been checked over. Had one on his arm which was removed as it was causing him discomfort. Do get it checked out. It could just be fatty tissue but you and we don't know that so he needs to see a doctor.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 14/03/2022 12:56

Another vote for lipoma. But get it checked.

TinselTit · 05/04/2022 08:58

Hi everyone. Forgot to update here and hate when threads leave you hanging! Dr thinks it’s a lipoma but has referred him for an ultrasound which has come through surprisingly quickly! Said he is 99% sure it’s nothing sinister!

Hope it all turns out well. Did he call you a drama queen? That’s not nice at all.
