To go to bed?

DH and I are meant to be watching a film tonight. We have just got back from a couple of days away and I’m knackered. First he put the rugby on, then Crufts. I was telling him I was getting tired and we’d need to start the film soon so he said he was going to get some drinks then we’ll put the film on.

When he came back into the living room he put the drinks on the coffee table and said “I’ll tell you something … “ then bent over and did a huge fart. The living room absolutely stinks and now I just can’t be bothered to watch the bloody film. I’ve said I’m going to bed, now he’s in a mood saying I’m being “over the top” and have got a face on because I’ve put on weight. I think he’s faffed around too long and has totally ruined the atmosphere. He’s just lit some candles and has started the film. AIBU to tell him I’m no longer in the mood and go to bed?!

Not BU at all. My ex used to faff for ages about choosing something to watch and want to start something really late. I'd tell him a few choices I fancied, he'd moan about them, then put on a genre I hate or football, then I'd give up and go to bed. I always found it annoying and disrespectful. The fart thing only you know if that's your guys' usual humour, I know some people think it's hilarious but in your situation at that moment it sounds like just another form of disrespect. I don't think it's OTT to remove yourself from a shitty (and shit smelling) situation.

Good grief. We need to start a film by 7 here

DollyPardoned · 12/03/2022 08:14

I went to bed, he went in a mood 🙄

Was he expecting a shag after the movie?
YANBU.

AlisonDonut · 12/03/2022 08:33

I'd have gone to bed the minute the rugby went on.

Ragwort · 12/03/2022 08:35

YANBU - I refuse to watch a film if we haven't started by 7pm ... but my DH and I dyexpect to have to 'entertain' each other in the evenings - we do our own thing which might occasionally be watching something together but usually not.
Your DH's behaviour sounds immature and horrible ... I trust you didn't share a bed with him last night?

You think he should have to sleep on the sofa because he put crufts on and farted? Confused
HikingforScenery · 12/03/2022 08:49

That’s really gross ( if it was on purpose). What’s with the candles? Hopefully, he opened a window before that.

Why did he mention you putting weight on?

EssexLioness · 12/03/2022 08:55

He sounds vile! Mean to bring your weight into it, fart is gross and the faffing sounds utterly frustrating and selfish

vamptramp · 12/03/2022 08:56

Starting a film at 10!! Bloody hell, I must be old. I wouldn't put a film on any later than 8.

DollyPardoned · 12/03/2022 09:06

I’ve been losing weight but we’ve been away at Crufts and I’ve come back 2lbs heavier. It’s probably fluid retention from all the walking but I’m still gutted and told him, he said that was why I was in a mood 🙄

DH has done similar tonight. We’ve only just started a film and I’m planning on bed at 10. He wanted to watch Sky news interviewing people standing in the queue 🙄

Did he also fart in your face?

He did that on purpose?

Yuck.

No he didn’t do that, he’d be wearing the TV if he did
