Hello posting for traffic... I'm just after someone with tech info... Sitting next to my DH in the pub and he's messaging someone over WhatsApp..I glanced over as it's a conversation I'm part of but as I looked it had just sent. Below was the list of all other messages. I caught a glimpse of the last preview message from another person and it was a load of emoji's ending in one blowing a kiss. He came out of WhatsApp and I said..can I just ask why xx has sent you those emoji's? He went back in and literally the preview of the message has changed back to what it was a few day ago (talking about something else). He's saying I saw something else but I literally saw it! I'm sober and I know what I saw..is there a tech explanation?

The person who sent the message deleted it? Although I think unless that’s done very quickly after sending and nobody has opened the message, that would leave an XXX has deleted a message text…

From what you’ve said, DH didn’t have the chance to delete it?

Ah, so their tag line is the same line of emoji's.. would it ever come up as the 'preview' message?

What do you mean by preview message? The notification on the phone when you get a message or what you can see when you look at the list of chats? On mine you can only see the taglines if you look at your list of contacts.

Have you looked through the rest of the phone to see if there's another WhatsApp app? I have 2 sims in my phone and can can have 2 WhatsApp, Facebook, and another one, I can't remember what. The second app has a little orange icon on it. It's not called duo app, but something like that.

It's so frustrating, it's turned into this massive deal. I literally saw their status with emojis where the first line of a message is when you are viewing your list of messages. He went out of the whole app, came back in and literally that person's last message WAS the last message a few weeks ago, their emoji status is not there..does that make sense?

On my WhatsApp on my home screen on the app if I have an unread message it shows the persons name / tag line, then if I read it it then shows the last message if that makes sense!

I think it's a huge coincidence if they happen to have messaged him the exact same emojis as their tagline so it's very likely it was the tagline you saw. If you click on 'new chat' it comes up all the recent convos and shows the tagline of the contact

If that's what's happened, that sounds like he got a new message, after he opened up WhatsApp, went in and deleted it.

I just sent a message from one WhatsApp to the other, opened the WhatsApp app and I could see the message text, not the emoji that I just put in my tagline.

Same for the phone notification, it showed the message text.

Ok so what I'm saying is I saw in a brief glimpse of his list of contacts with past messages (the first line of the corresponded message) the message in question was a load of emojies..within seconds I said "why has that person sent those emojies'.. he had by that time come out of WhatsApp then come back in again saying "what do you mean"... Coming back in the 'preview' message from that person has gone back to the last message they sent weeks ago. More digging I can see the stream of the same emojies is also their 'status'.. can a person's status be viewed as a last message sent? I know this all sounds crazy but he's making out I'm seeing things when I'm sober and I know what I saw.

No, you don't see the status unless you are in the contacts list.

If he went in and out of WhatsApp right in front of you then he's clearly not deleted / moved anything?

If all the emojis are in the persons username then isn't that just what you saw?
