To think I will be prescribed HRT that doesn't make me bleed?

I have been on Evorel Conti for 7 months now. After 5 months, I started to have some light bleeding. I now bleed like a proper period for a few days every 10 days. I am going to phone the doctor for an appointment on Monday and I know I will have to have some tests to rule anything nasty out. As it says that bleeding is a common side effect of Evorel Conti I do think that the bleeding is likely to be due to the HRT though.

I love being on HRT so much so I really want to find something that works without causing me to bleed. I'm 56 so its a bit of a pain as my periods stopped 4 years ago. I've searched the Internet and can't seem to find any information on people getting the bleeding to stop, although there are plenty of people who say they have also experienced bleeding.

Has anyone managed to get it to stop? I'd like to know what to ask the GP for. Thanks.

If you’re now bleeding would it be worth having a coil fitted ?

CanIJustHaveAWord · 11/03/2022 16:36

Have you taking progesterone too? Is that what conti is?

I was on HRT and started light bleeding that went on and on. Was referred to Gynae They stopped my Estrogen/progesterone HRT put me on Progesterone only and did biopsies Pre cancerous cells, two years and a few more biopsies later. All clear I can stop the Progesterone in August.
If all the sweats and misery come back I'll deal with it then. Call them back and tell them you have post menopausal bleeding and need to be seen.

Mirena coil and continuous oestrogen. Should stop all bleeding.

I actually can't bear the thought of a coil. I would really like to avoid that.

Conti is combined HRT, yes.

I get you. I need diazepam for the insertion and I have to work very hard in the days following insertion to prevent myself thinking about the thing. I feel as though my mind is horrified by it and my body is trying to get rid of it. But, ultimately, for me it is worth the effort.
