One of the Agency workers at the nursery I work at said that her boss says that she had to come in when sick with a cold and just to wear a mask. She looked like she was going to pass out and was as white as a sheet when when left at 6PM tonight after being here since 8AM. She also said that although they are all on zero hour contracts, the boss of the Agency says they all have to work at least one full 10 hour day and as many days as possible.
However, when I had a look at her contract, there was nothing in there about that. Just something he verbally said.
Normally the workers from the agency annoy me but did feel sorry for her today and feel there is something not right about this?

If she is on a zero hours contract I’m fairly sure she doesn’t have to come in at all if she doesn’t want to. Depends what’s in there I suppose. I’d ask the nursery if they know this is going on as they won’t want any bad reputation.

I know our manager would not have let her come in unwell and would not have been pleased with an agency boss sending sick staff into the workplace.
I think from the contract they are told they have to honour the commitment to a shift once agreed. But nothing about working set hours or working while sick.
