How long does the passport office take to acknowledge documents

Sorry posting here for traffic.

Has anyone sent off for a first passport lately. We applied two weeks ago and sent off her birth certificate by track and trace which said it was delivered to the passport office on the 28th Feb. But no update on status by passport office yet.

How long did it take them to acknowledge receipt for others?

Bootle. It took them 11 working days to acknowledge it with the phone call

Posted on 22 Feb at 3.45pm (2nd class signed for)
Delivered on 23 Feb at 7.06am
Acknowledged on 9 March at 9.21am

So it took them 2 weeks to acknowledge receipt. It took another week for them to approve, print and send the passport (I received it exactly 1 week later). This was the Glasgow office.

Posted my daughters passport for renewal 7 days ago (9th). Signed for on 14th. Still no confirmation. I did my own passport renewal in December and it was acknowledged same day as signed for so quite anxious. Although relieved to see similar time scales in this thread.

@Bells3032 have you received your supporting documents/old passport back yet? It's been 2 weeks since I received my new passport but no sign of the documents yet.

Yes received about 2 weeks later and very crumpled in the post even though it says do not bend. Just the birth certificate for ours

My returned passport was signed for the next day, but the passport office only acknowledged it had arrived about two weeks later. Once they did it all moved pretty quickly and we had the new one in about another two weeks.

It definitely did not take near to 7 weeks, you'll be fine.

@Bells3032 Could I ask which number you call? I submitted my daughter's application on 28 Feb. Documents were received on 23 March and since then no update. We keep receiving emails to send documents but it does not say if this is for new documents, nor which documents, or if it relates to the original request.

Just wondering what people have been experiencing with current wait times on passports, a few weeks on from the OP? I'm getting worried as I have proof from Royal Mail that my old passport was received by them on 29th April but they have still not confirmed receipt. Wondering whether it is worth phoning and probably being stuck on hold for hours or just wait it out....

Hi I sent off for my partners passport to be renewed he did the application online but, we sent off his old passport without being tracked and traced by mistake I sent it through the post on 10th of February. Anyone gone this before and can anyone please tell me if the passport office will still receive his old passport?
