Broken down car

Hi. Posting for traffic sorry! My car is parked on a public road and wouldn’t start this morning. There are garages literally a 5 min walk away (kwik fit and an independent one). Do I really need to pay for an emergency visit from the AA (I cancelled membership last year because they were ripping me off!) for a 1-minute tow? Is it likely one of the garages would come and get it? (sadly I don’t have a friend or family member who could tow me there)

Thanks

Phone them and ask. If it does need towed to them they often have deals with local companies. If its the battery I've had that changed in a car park by a local garage.

An independent garage will come and look it it usually and they would tow if necessary

If they won’t come you could get a mobile mechanic to come out .

I'd try the independent one, Kwik Fit may have rules about it.

My local garage would come and get it with a towing bar, or fix it here if they could.

My local independent garage would send someone out to tow it as it would generate business for them and potentially give them a new regular customer.
