I’ve just been wondering recently

When you’re on your second PGCE placement does your new mentor receive the contact details of your previous mentor so they can email them if they would to speak to them about their experience of the trainee.

Not usually, no.

I work in a primary school (admin) we have PGCE students on 2nd placements in school at the moment. I don't have any details of their previous placements, never have done with previous PGCE students either. I suppose if we had a good reason we could request the details from their uni 🤷‍♀️

AnxiousHeffalump · 08/03/2022 20:50

I’ve never known that happen.

LittleMG · 08/03/2022 20:50

No I don’t think so

KrisAkabusi · 08/03/2022 21:00

What did you do that you don't want your new placement to find out about?!

monkeysox · 08/03/2022 21:26

I don't think so. Mine met at a meeting held by the training provider as they both had their own first placement students who went back to them after the second placement but wasn't organised and they weren't given details

PurpleDaisies · 08/03/2022 21:27

Why are you asking this?

During my pgce, the mentors would all go to training together where I assume they talked about the trainees they’d shared.

That's what I want to know

I hope not, for the sake of the last student we had who walked off placement in the middle of a teaching day without so much as a thanks or goodbye. This was despite tonnes of support from all involved. They created a lot of drama and let down a lot of people. Unprofessional in the extreme. I suspect their next placement will be the same. Shame really; they were a nice human, just not cut out for teaching.
