to not want him to unblock the sink using my make up sponge?

Just stopped DH in time to save my beauty blender from being shoved down the drain! He thinks IABU as it was in the pot where I put my dirty make up sponges (I use a fresh one daily) and was therefore already dirty. I feel that dirty as in covered in this morning's make up application and dirty as has been shoved down a blocked bathroom sink are not the same thing. It's not a really expensive one, it's from Amazon but even so.... :(

I do not know what is blocking the sink but do not feel that my foundation sponge will help. I would probably have thrown it away if he had succeeded in using it.

He is astonished that I mind. I pointed out that there was a bathroom cleaning sponge right there by the sink

I suggested he ask all his female colleagues tomorrow for their opinion. I am asking Mumsnet how they would feel.

I'd buy him his own for his birthday or something.

That's grim though. Even when you clean them they are never clean.

FreezyFreezy · 07/03/2022 21:49

How the hell would he be able to unblock the sink with a sponge anyway?!

VanLife · 07/03/2022 21:50

😂😂😂

GiftWrappingLikeItsXmasEve · 07/03/2022 21:52

Ewww it’s not ok to unblock anything with a makeup sponge
Or toothbrush

DrSeuss · 07/03/2022 21:55

Correction- further questioning reveals that he was going to shove my sponge n the overflow so as to fill the sink more deeply while he tried to unblock it. So it would still have had a good swim around in the drain blockage water.

Not sure exactly how he wa planning on doing this but I have to say I very much doubt if my dh would know the difference between a make up sponge, a cleaning sponge, or even a Victoria sponge

oioimatey · 07/03/2022 21:57

Go ahead and use his toothbrush. He can always wash it in the dishwasher...

DrSeuss · 07/03/2022 21:58

He actually asked where I put my dirty make up sponges (giant yoghurt pot by the sink) so that he could be sure to use a dirty one, not a clean one.

YANBU I would suggest to use his toothbrush to clean the sink. See if he think that’s good.

CheshireChat · 07/03/2022 22:16

@AdoraBell

This is the perfect analogy. Just make sure the sink is filthy first.

User73ui843 · 07/03/2022 22:31

What else has he been doing with them? That's what I'd be pondering

No loo roll. Beauty blender

Floor dirty.. beauty blender

You really don’t want to use a Victoria sponge to unclog the sink, Swiss rolls work much better!
