To not give a damn that my neighbour wants a cat?

Neighbours have been having a screaming row. Ongoing for the past 4 hours on and off.

She is so loud I can hear every word.

Started with the teenager not wanting to go to school, has evolved into a 3 way slanging match, (her, him, teen)

Most recently all I can hear is "I'M GETTING A CAT"

From the other side of my house I can hear her clear as day and ita driving me mad.

So AIBU to a) not give a damn that she wants a cat
And b) wish they'd move somewhere I wouldn't have to hear this nearly every day through the walls?

Goodness that must be so annoying! I can’t think of what stage in an argument you might get to to feel the need to start shouting about wanting cats! 😂
Does it happen quite often?
If so I’d be finding it really difficult to stop myself from asking to quieten down!

Tell them to STFU

CSIblonde · 06/03/2022 23:56

I'd be tempted to shout back, "if you shut up, I'll get you a cat"!

SSDDagain · 07/03/2022 00:07

Honestly, I can hear her shouting daily. She doesn't seem to have a normal voice volume.

We've had issues with them since we moved in. The police have been involved as the teenager has got some issues and at one point they threw a weapon over my fence so I had police searching the garden.

I put in (another...) complaint to the noise team
(Will provably get the standard "we don't do anything about personal arguments" response)

However we now have a police car outside again...

If you have a police car outside, hopefully the situation will be resolved for you!!

SSDDagain · 07/03/2022 00:13

Think you may be correct.

Suddenly we have blissful silence

i'd feel sorry for the cat - they'd be in even closer proximity than you

SSDDagain · 07/03/2022 01:03

I honestly hope, hand on heart, that they don't get a cat.
I love cats, and wouldn't wish that household on any animal!

Police car outside?

Hope she didn't steal a cat! Wink

God I think you live next door to my BIL and his wife. I’m not joking.

We had BIL on our sofa twice in the past month. He won’t agree to get a cat even though she desperately wants one. They nearly divorced over it last year Shock

Chocolattay · 07/03/2022 05:53

They don’t have a teen though

Are they renters do you know OP? Maybe they'll be moved on soon.. 🌹

SSDDagain · 07/03/2022 07:43

@Newestname002

They do rent. But according to the rest of our neighbours they've been like this forever. From what I gather its a private landlord.

I moved here about 7 months ago, I'm a council tenant who was moved as my DH is disabled and we needed an accessible house.

The rest of our neighbours are amazing, I've never lived somewhere with such a good community spirit. We've had many offers of help sorting out our dilapidated garden, advice on local services and tradesmen numbers etc.
However we've ended up next to the one family in the street who don't share the sentiment.

The cat thing is just the latest in a long line of very loud arguments.

I have been told the police thing is a new development though, so fingers crossed between that and the fact I will make noise reports when they're being unbearable, (I'm a shift worker, I need sleep!), someone will take some notice and they'll quieten down.

Let's hope you get some peace soon, OP. 🌹
