Kids Swimming Lessons

I don't know if I'm expecting too much. Should each swim class have a teacher and how often should they assess progress? My 6 year olds are in a stage 2 class, 30 mins per class, usually 8 lessons in a half term. There are 8 in this class. They did have a teacher in the beginning and a teenage volunteer. Teacher left and now there is one teacher between stage 1 and 2 classes. Stage 1 class has 3 young volunteers and stage 2 now has 2 volunteers. They were assessed mid December. We're coming to the end of this half term. Is this normal?
Yes -yabu this is acceptable.
No -yanbu they should have a teacher per class and assess more often.

My daughter went up to stage 3 a few weeks ago. They have a teacher per group and they constantly assess them and there is an online system where you can check their progress.

I'd be looking for a different swim school, how can a teacher teach two different classes at the same time?

Assessment was ongoing with mine and I could view the progress online.

One teacher per class here. They currently have a trainee swim teacher in the pool too at the moment. Re- assessed every half term. It has morphed into a mixed 3/4 stage class but the teacher has always taught some elements from the next stage if the kids have completed all of one section of skills from the lower stage.

Teacher per class here and another teacher or volunteer (often some training to be a swim teacher) in the water aswell for stage 1 & 2

I'd expect a trained teacher per class. Minimum. Constant assessment against the criteria as some children will fly through early stages others will need time to gain confidence

Teacher and assistant per class, 6 per class, assessed every half term (although this does t mean they move up every half term).
