I have namechanged for this. But I’m a regular poster.
Can anyone help me with this mystery? I don’t want to be naive about this but can’t think of what’s going on.
Last week I had a notification on my phone saying a new device has been added to my Apple ID account. I was not asked for any authorisation.
The day before this happened our wifi was down and an engineer had to get it working again. No idea if this is relevant but I want to add all the details here.
The time I got the notification was a few hours after wifi was back up and running.
I went to iCloud settings to check what was signed in and there was a full list of my devices. Including my watch and my old iPad and phone. The last device listed was the mystery one. To give the correct info here I have to change my sons name. So for example if his name was Christopher and we call him Chris this said ‘Christo’s iPad Air version 2’. Except that it’s not Christopher, it’s a unique name that I’ve never heard anyone else called. So definitely not a coincidence.
I was stressed because he hasn’t told me about an iPad and it would be very dishonest to sign into my account. He’s just bought himself a new laptop.
He was at work. I texted him and asked had he signed into my account and could he let me know asap. He did not reply. I was very uneasy and stressed all day (that’s my fault- terrible anxiety and I’m useless at dealing with stress). We tried calling him etc. Then at night - so ten hours later- he phoned me back and said he had not seen his phone all day so hadn’t got messages but had now seen missed calls. This is a bit odd because he has his phone with him always. I told him about the sign in. He said definitely not him. He would not call himself that name. He does not have an iPad etc. I believe him but I’m puzzled. He has never had an iPad. The children all have laptops and kindles but I’m the only one with iPads.
When I look at devices connected now it doesn’t show christo but it also doesn’t show my watch or other older devices. So that is also strange.
Younger teen sister when I have taken her phone as a sanction she has borrowed friends phone and snuck things into the house. So has she done this again? Named it after brother?
Or is there an entirely innocent explanation? Sorry for this probably boring thread.
