About these gel nails!?

I am prepared to be told that IABU because I've only had gel nails twice in my life so my expectations of what they can withstand may be too much. I've only had them for 3 days, no extensions just gel. I've already been back once to get a repair as one chipped and the rest of the nail lifted and peeled. This morning I woke up and half of another one was missing! Again the side of it peeled and it came off. The last gels I had were really hard to get off, these just seem to pop off! I have eczema on my legs so was probably scratching in the night, other than that I wear gloves to do dishes and the only other time I'm in contact with water etc is showering or bathing DS. Is this a shit job or am I doing something wrong?

I’m aware of the difference between gel polish and gel nails. Nothing has ever lasted. Biosculpture was the one I got the longest wear from but hardly anywhere does it now, as the drying time is longer than most of the others. I just get acrylics at a walk-in place now, I know they’re not great for your nails but I wanted nice nails!

OP Does the technician use a dehydrator on your nails? It could be that you have natural oil residue on your nails causing the nails to lift which will dissipate as you continue using gels.

It could be done to the quality of your nail. Me and my daughter had ours done by the same person on the same day and my nails did what your’s did but my daughters were fine.

Mine last at least 4 weeks but have to have them done as they get too long

aren't gel nails different to shellac?
have only ever had shellac - typically found they lasted 3-4 weeks and would only remove when the regrowth was looking weird.
shellac is a type of polish - so nothing to ping off as such (although really occasionally the polish on one nail would lift if I spent too long in a hot bath)

Christ knows really. I'm not much of a beauty fiend and probably won't spend any more time or money on it either!

Could be different reasons
1- nail wasn't prepped properly
2- shit products used
3- nail wasn't sealed properly to cause the lifting and catching
4- you have naturally oily nails so makes it harder for gel to last

I feel like it is the prep as the one she repaired the other day is absolutely stuck fast!

I'm really not that happy with the set I've got atm. The first nail started chipping within 12 hours of having them done. Same lady and make of gel polish as many previous times but. Normally they last a good 3 week this set have bearly last 2 weeks
