Tired of only being offered temp positions in teaching

I have been in the career for over a decade and have only had temporary positions. It's difficult starting 'new' year after year. I heard another get into teaching advert on the radio yesterday and I burst into tears.

What would you do?

Leave teaching?
Try for another position?

It's a difficult one I have a friend in exactly the same position as you, I don't think it's all that unusual, but she is finding it harder now as you move up the pay scale, you end up coming up against cheaper NQTs.

That said I also worked with one lady who did this and then when she finally got her first permanent post, it was as Head of Department.

I suppose it comes down to what else would you want to do or is teaching it for you.

It's so upsetting. I come across permanent staff who slag off the school they work at. I recently came across permanent staff who clearly were playing the covid card many times to gain as much time off as possible. I would take their permanent jobs in a heartbeat if they hate them that much.

I don't want to leave teaching but I feel I won't be given the choice.
