To ask about cancelled bank card and pending transactions?

Lost my bank card a couple of days ago, so have cancelled it, but I’m not sure what happens to pending transactions on my card - does anyone know?

I’ve done a bit of Googling to find out, and it looks like the transactions will just leave my account as normal (as they’re already pending), but I’m not sure.

Just looking for some reassurance really!

As long as the transactions happened before your card was reported missing then they will go through.

It would only be if the card was reported stolen or you reported transactions after it was lost that thr bank would stop them to investigate.

I had an online tesco shop on the go when I had my card cancelled. The bank told me I would have to change my card details online or the payment wouldn't go through.
I also hadn't factored in my Netflix payment would come out two days later from PayPal with my old card details. It was declined.

Those situations are different though Rowgtfc72 as both payments were attempted to be processed after your card was cancelled.

The Netflix payment was not even initiated until after the card was cancelled and the online shopping payment won't have been processed because, regardless of when you make your order, for most supermarkets your payment isn't actually taken until the day your shopping is picked/delivered (to account for substitutions etc). If you make your order on Monday for a Friday delivery then the supermarket won't process your payment until Friday morning, so if you report your card as lost/stolen after making your order but before Friday then your payment will be rejected.

Pending payments will go out as usual on a card that has since been cancelled. They have already been authorised, so have to be honoured.
