To leave older teens home alone

DH and I are contemplating going away for 3 or 4 days just the two of us (which we haven't done since pre-children, due to lack of childcare options).

DS would be 18 and DD would be 16. We would go during weekdays in term time so DD would be at school, and DS would be working during the day. We are hoping this will minimise the risk of wild parties (which would likely be instigated by DS; not DD's thing).

At that age they could both move out so you aren’t unreasonable leaving them alone. If you are worried about parties do you have a nearby friend or relative that could stick their head through the door in the evening?

If course, 18 is an adult

In no way unreasonable. DC is adult at 18. Younger DC is old enough to live alone at 16.

I moved out at 17 and had my own house (and wild parties).
