To ask if anyone has experienced these symptoms before

As a disclaimer I will phone the doctor

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been feeling really rundown. I had sore but not swollen glands in my neck and it’s developed into a sore throat and a headache that starts in the early evening. I’m ok during the day and then around 6pm the symptoms descend. Then tonight the roof of my mouth on one side is swollen and painful so much so that I feel like that side of my face is swollen.

I just feel so run down and miserable and it’s so unlike me.

I know I’m not being unreasonable - I just wondered if anyone had experiences similar and what it turned out to be.

FWIW, I’ve had covid and I’m fully vaxxed.

Could it be glandular fever?

Milkshake54 · 02/03/2022 21:20

How long ago did you have covid? About 6 weeks after I had I got unwell with similar ailments you describe, was worse than covid!

My friend went down with it at the same time!

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 02/03/2022 21:41

It sounds like a sinus cold to me. Mine are always worse in the evening.

givethatbabyaname · 02/03/2022 21:42

Sinusitis?

ComtesseDeSpair · 02/03/2022 21:44

Does it coincide with dinner? Might you have developed an allergy to something?

This is how I discovered I’ve become allergic to spring onions - generally feeling sluggish and run down, kept on getting a tight throat and mouth.

Nothingsfine · 02/03/2022 21:46

Parotitis?

Carbiesdreamhouse · 02/03/2022 21:46

Mumps? I've had it despite having the MMR

Waddlegoose · 02/03/2022 21:53

In the evening have you been laying down? If yes it sounds sinus related.

If no potential thyroid issues or a mixture with anaemia thrown in? Ask for some basic blood tests to check thyroid, iron, full blood count etc

Yes my DH and I have both had these symptoms for the last few days. Our DD had a terrible cold lasting weeks and we think we’ve probably caught some version of it. There are loads of bugs flying around at the moment, they’re particularly virulent ones that have survived social distancing, so may feel a bit nastier and last longer than your average virus. Keep dosed up with Lemsip and try to sleep as and when to help your body fight it off x
