I start a new job next week, super nervous as it’s my first job change in 10 years , for anyone who has changed jobs recently do you have any tips on how to keep the nerves at bay and how to make the first few days go well?! What sort of things were you doing in your first few days?

I started a new job 6 months ago after 8 yrs not working. In a professional role similar to what I did 20 years ago! Are you wfh or in office/other place of work.
I did get thrown in the deep end to some extent but I am loving it. I would say don’t be afraid to ask questions and say if you don’t understand/know something.
Good luck 🙂

I’m going to be predominantly in the office with some working from home. Think I’m nervous about being the newbie again , meeting lots of new people etc. I’m worried I won’t do the job as well as what they expect!

I would focus your first few days/weeks dependent upon role actively listening to people. Don’t criticise anything just be polite and listen actively.Google active listening if you’re not sure what I mean! Good luck 😃what’s the role?

Im on week 5 of a new job after 20 years in my old one, im in a completely different job sector.
My top tips - dont be hard on yourself, you wont know everything in 1 week. Ask lots of questions, write stuff down, get to know immediate colleagues and suss out who will help, whos who....avoid office politics!.
Most of all when the self doubt kicks in remember they picked YOU so they believe you can do the job. Enjoy it 💐

Take notes, ask for any extra training you feel you might need, don’t be afraid to say if you’re overwhelmed and need a bit of time to process what you’re learning. Remember they hired you for a reason - you can do it!
