Would you cancel this night out?

I was due to meet up with two old colleagues this weekend, for a night out. One of them has now pulled out and the other one has invited her best mate along instead. I've never met the best mate. I don't drink, but they do, so I will probably end up driving them home. That wouldn't be the end of the world, as it's all in the same vague area, but I don't know if I'm going to enjoy myself tbh.

Would I be U to cancel?

Fuck that shit.

TimeToMakeACupofTea · 01/03/2022 20:00

If you don’t want to go you should cancel. Personally I’d go, you might enjoy it; if you don’t you can make excuses and leave early.

Leeds2 · 01/03/2022 20:01

I wouldn't go. Would probably just say that you were looking forward to meeting A and B, so will wait until A and B are both available. Then wish your friend a nice evening with her friend. They can get a taxi home.

A580Hojas · 01/03/2022 20:01

No, I wouldn't go on a 3 person night out with someone I'd never met.

Thatsplentyjack · 01/03/2022 20:01

If I was drinking I would go but since you're bot and they both will be, I would cancel.

greenlynx · 01/03/2022 20:02

Why did the first colleague pull out? Do you think she/he doesn’t want to meet up at all or can’t make this particular date?

Fimofriend · 01/03/2022 20:02

I would cancel.

SoberSerena · 01/03/2022 20:04

No idea why the other one pulled out, but I think it may have something to do with some personal problems she's been having. She also doesn't drink, so would have been my sober night out buddy, so it does put a bit of a dampner on it.

I only heard today that she's cancelled

@BobHadBitchTits

Fuck that shit.
My thoughts exactly!
museumum · 01/03/2022 20:04

You don’t know you’ll enjoy yourself but you don’t know you won’t.

If this is the last of your spare money or your only night with a babysitter maybe it’s not worth the risk but otherwise why not chance it? Meeting a new person can be nice.

Fuck that shit.
Yep, this..... Rearrange for a time when the 3 of you can make it.

YANBU because it's up to you whether you go out or not, but maybe you'd enjoy it - ?? You might like the friend. And if you're driving you might be able to make a fairly easy getaway if necessary.

5128gap · 01/03/2022 20:16

Similar thing happened to me years ago. I really liked the other woman. Still good friends now even though the original friend and I drifted apart. Personally I'd give it a go, but I wouldn't be hanging around to be a taxi if I wasn't having fun.

greenlynx · 01/03/2022 20:24

I would do as @Leeds2 suggested.
I actually think it’s the only way as you want to see them both.

SoberSerena · 01/03/2022 20:28

I might do that as I do really want to see both of them. Will see if colleague who can make it wants to reschedule for a night we can all do... don't think that's rude.

I'm sure her friend is lovely, but I'd actually rather spend the evening with my OH. We don't get that much time together so don't want to potentially 'waste' a free evening if that doesn't sound horribly rude

Yellowsubhubabubbub · 01/03/2022 20:28

Och just go! Grin
You might have a nice time! So little chances for socialising the past two years.
What’s the worst that could happen? Not like you’ll be spending money on drink? You can just go home if it’s no for you.
Long as you’re not travelling miles. And no you’re not obligated to drive anyone just cos your sober
Have fun!

This.
Scorchedterf · 01/03/2022 20:33

I’d go, you’ll probably have a great time and if not you can leave early

iwishu · 01/03/2022 21:10

I wouldn't, you don't drink, they do, you'll likely get bored soon as they start drinking too much, waste of an evening.
