Smart scales - are they worth it?

Does anyone have a smart scale and is it worth it? Are they generally accurate? My understanding is they show you your body fat percentage and weight - would I be better off just measuring myself (e.g. waist, hips etc) with a tape measure and using one of those online body fat percentage calculators?
If you do recommend a smart scale, what brand do you prefer?

I have a Renpho and it's really good! Fairly accurate (when I compare to the ones in the gym I've used too) and wasn't too expensive on Amazon.

I bought one and it was terrible, very inaccurate but on the plus side if I got on and off it enough i could eventually find a weight that I liked best Grin

I like my solely because it blue tooth’s my weight to my phone so I don’t have to write it down! No idea how accurate various calculations are though.

I bought one but the buttons are fiddly and I only ever just step in it for a weigh in now. I don't use the extra features

I also have Renpho ones from Amazon and I love them.

We have one. No idea if it's accurate as I've nothing to compare it to. I did once read that the formula they use is based on a male physiology so is less accurate for women as they have a different base body composition and fat distribution. Probably you'd be best off measuring yourself with a tape measure, keeping track in a spreadsheet and comparing your data to your data.

I bought a set a couple of years ago, when I was losing/had lost a couple of stone. Now, I'm just a fat git and don't get on the damned things. Grin

We have Withings body+ scale and I love it. It connects to the house wifi and then sends the data to my phone. We have a different profile for each person in the house and it shows body fat %, muscle %, BMI etc.
The app shows how each of those has been changing over time.

I don't know exactly how accurate it is, but for trends and the like it's great. Looks a bit more expensive than the renpho ones others have mentioned but my DH is a gadget geek and he bought it.
