To leave DD at home

I want to go back to doing yoga. It’s on in the village hall at 6 or 7:15 one evening a week. Would I be unreasonable to leave my sensible 11 year old home alone and go to yoga? She could walk down to the hall if she needed me…. I don’t know why it feels wrong, perhaps it’s the evening thing. I leave her ok for an hour in the mornings on the weekend to walk the dog!! So AIBU?

My DD is 11 and I wouldn't do that...but that's because she's quite a young 11. I'd have left my ds at that age though as he was a lot more grown up than her. I think it's fine overall

Don’t think you are being unreasonable OP

Does she already walk to school alone? Already go to the shops alone? Already can be trusted to not injure herself in the kitchen, knows how to deal with callers at the door? She'll be fine.

If she can't then you'd probably need to drag her along to sit at the back and read a book.

If she’s already walking to/ home from school etc. I’d think it was fine

does she have a phone to text you? you could set things up on your phone so that she is an 'urgent contact' and it will ping if she calls even if it stays silent for everything else. then you'll hear whether you are walking the dog or doing downward-dog.

She can text me, school is a drive away but she’d walk if it was in the village, she’d ignore callers at the door, she runs her own baths, makes basic food in the kitchen etc.. actually the more I think about the more I think she’d be fine. Thanks all!
