To have sent DP out for snacks?

This is obviously lighthearted...

I'm in bed with toddler DS (2) who is teething and refusing to sleep more than two inches from my face. Just glad he's asleep to be honest.
I'm nearly 14 weeks pregnant and miserable & hungry after a very busy weekend.
DP has been dispatched to the local petrol station to find haribo & salt & vinegar squares.
I think this is perfectly reasonable as I'm caring for one and growing another tiny human. He's is relatively happy to go. Albeit he'd probably rather not.

Friend thinks I'm a wicked witch and an evil girlfriend. She's flabbergasted I'd ask or let him!

This is normal right?

Of course I would, and often do, the same for him.

Of course it's normal!! Pregnant or not, if I fancied snacks, my husband would go. Just because he is kind and not because I'm lazy.

No she doesn't (unless of course she was being 'lighthearted' too) Wink

YANBU to ask him
He wouldn’t be unreasonable to decline or ask you to go yourself

DorothyZbornakIsAQueen · 27/02/2022 20:16

Just to add, I will go also, but if I was knackered as I'd been busy all day, he would be happy to go and vice versa

luxxlisbon · 27/02/2022 20:18

Let him? Why would she be shocked that you would let him go to the shop never mind asking your supposedly loving partner to go to the shop?

Your friend is insane, does she not understand how adult relationships work?

Cakelover17 · 27/02/2022 20:18

YANBU frequently dispatched DH for snacks when pregnant and he was always ok about it, apart from one time I sent him out for cornflakes at 11pm and by the time he got back I couldn’t even look at them Blush your friend is daft.

hellithurt · 27/02/2022 20:20

It's his job.... enjoy!

heidihigh · 27/02/2022 20:22
Grin

My DP has done this before and I'm not pregnant soooo.. definitely YANBU

User0ne · 27/02/2022 20:23

Totally normal in my and dh's relationship (and out nearest shop is 2.5miles away)

koalalala · 27/02/2022 20:24

My brain is honestly bamboozled she'd even comment. I hope for her sake it's a poor joke.
Can't believe her husband wouldn't do this for her.

The conversation moved onto 'before we had kids' and I said I always used to go & get a McDonald's breakfast on my way home from my last night shift and then DP got woken up to a breakfast before he went to work. It was a tiny treat as we looked forward to time off together. (Don't worry only once every 2-3 weeks).

She replied crikey he must have thought it was his birthday!

Isn't it funny the glimpses you get into other peoples relationships. They a perfectly average couple also with small children.

Bizarre. Hope I've inspired her to send her husband for snacks!

God, I often send my DH to the garage at night for snacks 😂 I'm not pregnant, nor do I have very young kids!

WorraLiberty · 27/02/2022 20:27

I mean the 'wicked' and 'evil' stuff is over the top but could she have a problem with your language maybe?

'Dispatching' him? 'Sending' him?

Other than that it's weird she'd even bat an eyelid at someone doing something so mundane for someone else.

SGChome20 · 27/02/2022 20:29

Your friend has got quite a crappy husband if he wouldn't do that for her on occasion.

20viona · 27/02/2022 20:37

Oh this is perfectly acceptable!

Lemon221 · 27/02/2022 21:03

She sounds a bit jealous!
