To think Netflix should make Zelensky’s “Servant of the People” programme available globally now?

I really want to see it. I half expected it to be there already, but it doesn’t seem to be available in the UK, at least.

They should show it everywhere, shouldn’t they? I’m sure it would get plenty of views.

Someone else want to see it other than me?

Maybe the story isn’t widely known? Zelensky was an actor and starred in this programme who “accidentally” becomes president, off the back of which he ran for office “as a joke” and…..accidentally became president IRL. Doing an inspiring job, too.

Actually just noticed 4 “YANBU” votes. So that’s 5 of us. Smile

It’s available on YouTube although I’m not sure if a version in English or with English subtitles exists atm. I am not sure I could watch it just now myself, doesn’t seem right.

NannyOggsWhiskyStash · 27/02/2022 18:06

I had not heard if this, thanks for the tip. The more I read about him,the more respect I have for him.

ThymePoultice · 27/02/2022 18:07

Oh good call. I’ll try that on the off chance someone has done English subtitles.

Do you think it’s inappropriate then?

I was thinking it was a way of showing support for him and the whole country. Symbolic maybe, but I’ve already donated to two relevant funds and I do admire the man. Plus it’s an intriguing “origin story” for a National president.

Sorry that was to @Mb76

He is doing a great job isn’t he @NannyOggsWhiskyStash ?

He’s incredibly brave. I can’t imagine many presidents that would stay in their capital city, knowing they are a huge target but to stay with their people

ThoseFestiveLights · 27/02/2022 18:12

It’s like us electing Hugh Grant.

Which would be fucking awesome.

Hadn’t thought of him, but yes!

He won Strictly too (the Ukrainian version)

No I’m not saying that, and not judging anyone who wants to watch it! I’m just in no mood for comedy right now being Ukrainian myself. I know I will end up in tears because things like that remind me of the normal times and the time right now is not normal at all … I don’t know if I’m making any sense… it’s just too raw right now.
ThymePoultice · 27/02/2022 18:21

He did? Need to Google that.

He really is an all rounder, isn’t he?!

Watching something on Netflix and lining their pockets isn't really showing support.

Support in ways that actually help, or don't, but don't do something to benefit yourself and dress it up as supporting the Ukraine. It's really distasteful.

Oh I’m so sorry.

I heard an analyst say last night that the cost of invasion is so high, and Ukrainians are putting up such a good resistance, that Putin can only afford to pay for this for 10 days tops.

I hope it’s over quickly and with minimal losses. This must be so hard for you.

Here is an article from our local paper about Strictly, a video is half way down the page

It’s not meant to be.

As I say, I’ve already done the only practical thing I can think of to do, which is to chip in to refugee support.

And actually I think if it was trending on Netflix, that would send a message internationally, albeit to the profit of Netflix.

I follow President Zelensky on Facebook and every day I thank God that he is still alive. He’s looking increasingly worn out but so strong in his spirit, a true hero 💙💛🇺🇦

XenoBitch · 02/03/2022 18:54

Why don't you ask Alexa to play some Ukrainian music too...

Mb76 · 02/03/2022 18:57

If this is addressed to me, I always have played Ukrainian music being Ukrainian myself 🤷🏻‍♀️

ThymePoultice · 02/03/2022 19:16

Oh thanks @Mb76 🤗

He is so impressive. In all her bad luck, Ukraine is lucky to have him.

The videos of him gyrating in stilettos and playing the piano with his willy are just amazing 😂

I think he's fantastic. And a prime example of what can be achieved when a normal person is put in charge.......he's lived an amazing, full life. From a comedian, to an actor, to president of the Ukraine and comes across as a really decent, devoted guy. I really hope he can pull through this, no doubt he's wondering what the hell he's got himself into but nobody can take away what he's achieved.
