Sorry posting for traffic.

My DD will be 16 months in summer and I want to take her abroad to Spain. I've never travelled abroad with a baby/toddler before.

Any advice or useful hints and tips please? (Other than don't do it, it's crazy 😂).

Thanks

I presume you will be flying? We always arranged the day so that DC would be hungry on the flight and took lots of food that they liked. That always managed to use up a good chunk of the flight time.

You could also try to aim for a nap on the flight, but that could go either way. We had one terrible sleeper who would fall into a deep sleep at take off, and an excellent sleeper who wouldn't sleep a wink on a flight.

Otherwise new toys or colouring books or whatever DD is into.

Thank you, great tips!
Yes we are flying. It's just under 3 hour flight so not too bad, although I imagine that will feel like an eternity with a wriggling 16 mo in your lap trying to escape ..... Shock

I used as a holiday nanny travelling with parents in the same situation as you. Take lots of snacks, toys, favourite comforter, spare clothes and new toys/games/books. Tablet with some favourite shows is good if your little one will sit still for this. Depending on airline see if you can book a seat for the little one. You will not be able to use it for take off or landing but it will come in handy otherwise. Make sure you take a buggy to the gate as some airports have long walks to departure gates. Top Tip ignore all those people around you giving you funny looks if your little one is a bit noisy or frightened and remind yourself that you are doing a good job,
