Song stuck in head for weeks!

Aibu to think this doesn't tend to happen to anyone else?? Song stuck, sure. But for weeks?

And when I say stuck, I mean really stuck. I wake up with the song playing in my head. I go to sleep with it. It interrupts what I'm watching or reading. Listening to the song does not make it go away.

At the moment it's My Life by Iris DeMent. I like the song but I wouldn't choose to listen to it on repeat 😭

It's like it's on in the background of every thought I'm having, every conversation. And it has been for about 9 days and will be for a while yet. Then I'll be ok until suddenly another song will get stuck. They're normally songs that are piano heavy, but that's the only thing they have in common. It's like they flip a switch!

It's weird, weird, fucking weird. Anyone else have this, or know why I am for so long? Aibu to think it can't be that common because I'm only finding things saying about it lasting a day

At the moment for me it's the theme tune to The Fall Guy. Not as bad as you though.

Mine is a song from 'Matilda' having just watched a gig of Tim Minchin's on Prime (wasn't in it but such brilliant songs).

Before that it was 'It's my life' from some ad so I am glad it has changed...

I've found silent singing karma chameleon by culture club cures ear worms although I think yours is an extremely intense case.

I read once that your brain will only stop replaying a song once it knows the songs ended - so go listen to whichever song it is in full and it should stop - see if that works.

For me, at the moment, it's always one of four songs from Encanto. I don't even know all the words so it's a few lines over and over from the minute I wake until I go to sleep.

Fucking Bruno. On a constant loop. It's there when I wake up, there when I go to bed, there at every lull in conversation. It's driving me insane. It's been 2 weeks now.

Mine are quite random, also wake up with one. Someone once told me it’s your subconscious sending a message, so look up the lyrics.
My favourite was waking up to to the start of ‘Plaistow Patricia’ by Ian Dury. Pretty sure that was definitely my subconscious 😂

My sister once had that 'mmm mmm' song by the Crash Test Dummies stuck in her head for 2 years solid. All the time!!

I get this too, it keeps me not quite asleep at night for days on end. Drowsy but singing in my brain. An extra frisson is that I’m a musician so sometimes it happens to my fingers instead and they play the same fucking thing for weeks on end. It’s massively irritating and incredibly draining, I feel your pain.

I am with the Encanto crew on here! Doesn’t help my DDs tell Alexa to play the songs from the minute they wake up! We are ALL singing it though, like if one of us so much as hums a bar the person near them picks it up and sings the next part…

We’ve just got back from Book of Mormon so I do now have “Baptise Me,” stuck on a loop which is a happy replacement of “he told me my fish would die…”
