Driving Test Appointments

Is anyone else having issues trying to book driving tests? There is nothing available and it's so frustrating! My son has had to wait because of covid, we've looked and it's impossible to find any spaces. You used to be given a calendar and could select a date and it gave you the closest date available. Now there's nothing.

Am I missing something?

Yes most people are paying for apps now that can book them for you, for a fee. So many waiting following covid backlog so every single test is booked up, either by people wanting to do a test or these apps. I’m just going to have to pay for the app when my son’s ready as he’s off to Uni in the Autumn and not sure if he will pass before then

Word on the street is that you book a random day in random location then once you are in the system you look to change the date by downloading an app which pings your with local cancellations. Someone will come along in a min who knows details …

There’s an app called Testi which does what pp described.

have you checked any other test centres near you?
Not all of them are booked up.

Testi is fab!My daughter knocked 4 months off her waiting time by using it

One of the problems is having a car ready to use for the test. I think I'll get him to look at random test centres and then try the apps, but not always sure if he will have a car to use.

Doesn't this only apply if they have their own car? Otherwise you're waiting and relying on the instructor being available?

Yes you book the test (ages away) then you can use Testi to get a cancellation. NB: if you use your own car for the test make sure it's clean inside and out.

You can use an app such as Testi or driving test cancellations4all. Enter any dates that you can't make and either request automatic booking or notification of any dates that come up and you can accept or reject. We just looked for the next few weeks after checking when the driving instructor had other tests booked in and got one pretty much straight away. If the date doesn't suit you can change it again

My daughter used Testi. Booked a test 7 months away, 5 hours drive from us.

In 10 days got a cancellation, booked it, instructor shuffled his lessons to take her to the test and passed. Worth paying for the app
