AIBU - night time alien abductions??

I joke…

But can anyone give me a logical explanation for this. I woke up this morning with my leg muscles aching. Really badly like I had done loads of exercise. I go running 3 times a week and never get this type of muscle pain.

Mentioned to DH in passing how odd it was and he surprisingly admitted that he has experienced the same!

Ideas?

You need a new mattress?

Metabigot · 25/02/2022 21:37

Yup. Definitely aliens 👽

Alfredsothermistress · 25/02/2022 21:41

The rational explanation would be…

You slept in a funny position, and your position made your husband also sleep in an unusual position.

You’ve both trapped a nerve.

I did the same this week. After sleeping with your husband, I trapped a nerve in my leg, and the day after I could barely walk.

Hang on, I didn’t sleep with your husband.

You’re right, aliens did it!!!

Sassenach85 · 25/02/2022 21:47

It’s the way my muscles feel that’s odd. And it sounds silly typing it out. Not like a nerve thing or a stiff position thing. Like my leg muscles have all been zapped. The way like if you’ve done a mega workout and your muscles really ache. Just getting off the sofa or dried after my shower. All the way up my calves and my thighs.

After a long pause DH announced it must be that we are both dehydrated lol

Just got a new mattress a few months ago, very expensive 10 year guarantee type. Won’t be that.

And it’s just from waking this morning. It’s like my body has been off doing something that my mind can’t remember Confused

Is it worth checking carbon monoxide levels in the house?

CurlsLDN · 25/02/2022 21:50

Covid made me feel like this

VaddaABeetch · 25/02/2022 21:51

You need more magnesium? Especially if you’ve increased your running.

The good news is it helps you sled too.

The other explanation is that Zohar the supreme Universe overlord has taken you in the dead of night up Uranus & back.

ClumpingBambooIsALie · 25/02/2022 21:51

Been eating more/less salt than usual, causing muscle cramps during sleep? Assuming you have the same diet you could both be affected.

spotcheck · 25/02/2022 21:52

Google 'Charley Horse' ☺️

Amandasummers · 25/02/2022 21:55

I’m going to humour you op, because, I too, had this the other day! Tuesday to be exact. I don’t run, or do any exercise. And hadn’t. I could barely walk on Tuesday. Totally weird. I’m going with aliens.

Sassenach85 · 25/02/2022 21:56

Oooh thank you Mumsnet!

This is why I asked you guys lol

Will look at carbon monoxide/magnesium/salt explanations!

I Do like the sound of a trip with Zohar though!!

A trip through the galaxy that is …. Not Uranus and back lol HmmBlush

I get this (admittedly not usually in both legs) and I think I must have had a cramp in my sleep. Can never quite believe that I would sleep through a calf cramp though, I find them unbearable when awake!

FlamingoDust · 25/02/2022 22:29

This was the start of covid symptoms for me and my daughter. Started in legs then spread around body especially shoulders, legs and kidney area

Sassenach85 · 25/02/2022 22:36

Oh really hope not Covid again!

Few people in DH office absent with it just now.

Dh was the same at the start of having covid, I prefer the aliens idea

TheYearOfSmallThings · 26/02/2022 18:37

Have you swabbed recently? I've heard many people say painful muscles were the main symptom of their COVID.

DeePlume · 26/02/2022 18:46

Yes agree with others. This was a major symptom when I had covid. It's only just passing now almost 2 months later

Sassenach85 · 26/02/2022 18:50

Thanks for the replies

DH did do a LFT as so many in his work were off with it but I didn’t do one. Should maybe do one tonight.

I’ve felt rubbish all day and it’s more of a faint, anaemia feeling. Could be totally unrelated.

I've had covid this week, and this was one of my first symptoms, weak wobbly legs like I'd done a huge walk or had too hot a bath. Was positive on lat flow the next morning!

Sassenach85 · 26/02/2022 22:09

Both negative! Confused

BeforeGodAndAllTheFish · 26/02/2022 22:15

I went to sleep with no pain at all after a very chilled out day off of doing nothing but watching TV and playing board games. Woke up with a swollen foot and i couldnt move for the pain. Turns out I had fractured it. In my sleep. So.... aliens? Sounds legit.

SeasonFinale · 26/02/2022 22:26

menopause?

VenusClapTrap · 26/02/2022 22:40

Vitamin D deficiency? That was the source of my knackeredness and achiness.
