To not know the difference between drugs then and now

I'm no ingenue and yet I have no idea about the difference between drugs as they were in 90s and now. What the heck is crystal MD (look like crystals) apparently MDMA. How is it different in experience to pills back then? Asking for a friend.

Pot is a lot more potent now than in the 1970s or so I'm told. No 1st hand experience since 1989--

It was always available as crystal MDMA but the pills were just much more common (and cheaper). I've done both and the MDMA was purer. The pills can be cut with anything, sometimes that's a good thing but obviously sometimes it can be dangerous.

Mdma is pure, pills have a some mdma in them but are usually cut with other ingredients.

So in terms of physical effects what would you say?

It's difficult to judge how much you're having with crystals, which means you can overdo it, though obviously pills could be a bit variable, especially later on. The effect should be similar in theory, but I'm not sure anything's like those early pills. Though my knowledge is also out of date!
