Now covid restrictions have ended, can a work place make you stay off work without pay if you test positive?

This isn’t my workplace but I went for lunch with a friend today who said this is happening at her work and just wondered where you stand in terms of sick pay etc.

I suppose you'd get SSP

I presume the company’s sickness policy would come into play. Possibly the person in question have used all their sick pay allowance up?

This hasn’t actually happened to my friend yet, it’s just been announced in an email. You only have to isolate for 5 days and I’m sure you can only get SSP after your 4th day (I might be wrong there!)
