My dd is having problems with her teeth and I'm going to cut their sugary foods down as for school their snacks tend to be sugary things, cereal bars, fruit, raisins, biscuits etc.
Can you give me your sugar free snack ideas for kids especially for school snack? I like the idea of things that fill them up

Nuts are good but won’t be allowed in school itself.

Maybe cheese? Get some babybels.

I sometimes make cheese scones. It is difficult as nuts and seeds make such a good non sugary snack. The popcorn packets aren’t too sugary

Sugar isnt always the problem.

My dentist told me crisps and rice cakes and the like that stick in the teeth - crunchy carbs basically - are the big offenders, plus acidic things.

I'd say things like cheese, a boiled egg, nuts, pots of beans/peas etc are a good idea.

OfstedOffred · 25/02/2022 15:41

Crackers/crisps/cheddars etc are very easy carbs for your saliva to convert to sugar and they sit in crevices in teeth. Avoid.

OfstedOffred · 25/02/2022 15:42

Also do they definitely need a snack? It's ok for kids to be hungry by tea time. Its frequent grazing that also contributes to teeth decay.
