Got my blood test results back. My ferritin was at 6 last time. I’ve been on iron tablets for a few months now so got retested last week as I still feel like death, extremely tired, achy, headaches, leg pain, short of breath etc …

My ferritin is now 30 so dr considers me cured with no further action required. So, is this it for me now? A life of no energy and a daily struggle just to function?

A ferritin of 30 is still considered deficient according to WHO. At 6 I'd have expected you to be offered a transfusion.

Could you look at an infusion privately? I paid £650 for mine.

How’s your folate, Vitamin D and B12 levels? Deficiencies in these can lead to your symptoms too.

My ferritin got up to 21 from 7 and I still felt awful, particularly around my period. I carried on taking iron tablets long after GP did I was fine (you can buy them OTC) and felt much better.
