To ask about getting a puppy

I am looking to get a puppy can anyone please give me some advice as I hear horror stories about puppy farms. Do they have to be KC registered? I will of course visit the place before agreeing to buy to meet ‘mum’ as well. Any advice or websites is welcome

We bought a Cross breed, so not KC registered. We found a breeder who was licensed with the local council, was a 15 minute drive from us and was very happy for us to visit weekly until he was ready to come home with us. The breeder also gave us the details of her vet so we contacted them to check if they had any concerns (they didnt) before we agreed to buy.

We were first time dog owners and it was during lockdown. It was hard knowing if people were really who they said they were. I had a conversation with one woman who said she would meet me somewhere else due to Covid. I immediately felt that wasn't right - at the time, you could be in peoples gardens so there was no reason not to let me visit.

You'd be better off getting this moved to the Doghouse board.
