Went to pet shop today to get DS a much wanted hamster. I dont drive so ordered a taxi back. The hamster was in a box, inside another box and then the box was locked in the new cage.

Taxi driver took one look and said that he needed to charge for the animal...

Am I being unreasonable in thinking WTF? I didn't rock up with a Great Dane. The hamster couldn't even get out of the box he was in which was inside a cage!!

I paid it as didn't have much choice.

The hamster is gorgeous btw.

How much extra did he charge you?

WhenSpringArrives · 21/02/2022 14:34

You have to be kidding? I absolutely wouldn't pay anything more for an animal in a small box. That's like charging for an extra large bag? Fair enough if it was a dog!

Tight taxi driver. Leave a review of your experience

NoLongerTroels · 21/02/2022 15:00

You should have said the box and cage is empty, cheeky beggar.

LittleMG · 21/02/2022 15:09

I actually think you should pay, I mean it’s a taxi not a public service or anything so they don’t have to be nice so they. I would have worried that they wouldn’t let an animal in the taxi tbh

It was triple wrapped, ffs.
Sunflowersinthewind · 21/02/2022 15:11

It was only £3 extra but still.

I have taken my cat to the vets before in a taxi and never been charged. So I was taken aback by a charge for a very much contained hamster
