Trying to get through all morning. I’m on carbimazole for overactive thyroid and been told to stop taking it and get a same day blood test if I develop sore throat. Of course it’s a Sunday when I wake up with sore throat and no OOH running in our area today, even the walk-in centre is closed.

My overactive thyroid symptoms were back by 11am after not taking the carbimazole this morning so I’m boiling hot with a 170pbm heart rate, blood pressure not though. I did end up in resus for 4hrs with suspected thyroid storm so maybe I should just take the carbimazole for now? Am home alone with dc. What would you do?

Could you get to a pharmacy and ask a pharmacist?

Thank you. Called a pharmacy that’s open on a Sunday and spoke to pharmacist, he said go straight to A&E as do need blood test today. Luckily dh came home from work and has driven me. I’m now in A&E, have had blood tests within 5mins of walking in. Now have to wait for results which take about an hour to come back and to speak to doctor.
