Worried about my toddler’s sickness & constipation

My son started to become a fussy eater around two months ago, to the point he will now eat very select foods and has lost weight. He went from eating anything and everything to losing interest in food completely. I spoke to my health visitor about it multiple times who just kept saying he was a fussy eater.

Fast forward to this week and he’s been vomiting every day for five days now - but it’s not frequently, it’s about once a day and usually when dinner is in front of him. He is fine all day and then he has one spoonful and projectile vomits.

Yesterday he was in a lot of pain with constipation and was crying for about an hour, while we were out going to get some laxatives (advised by pharmacy while we were awaiting a doctors appointment), he went off his own accord and bounced back again.

Yesterday evening we went to give him dinner and he just vomited so much just brown vomit. He isn’t eating enough to justify the amount of vomit that is coming out!

I’ve spoken to a doctor who says it just sounds like gastroenteritis, but I can’t help but think it’s due to something else considering it’s when food is near him & it’s only once a day and has been going on for five days & he always bounces back.

I’m going to get another appointment on Monday as he hasn’t been for a poo today either, and has been extra clingy (which while I love the cuddles makes me even more concerned) but I’m just worried and wondered if anyone else had experienced something similar?

I feel like nobody is listening and like we’re getting fobbed off.

I have ulcerative colitis and had an emergency surgery to remove my colon a few years ago, and I’m worried that he could have IBD too.

He is getting fluids down him and has had lots of wet nappies, just to mention!

Any advice?

Is he being sick every time he is eating or just at dinner? If he isn’t being able to eat anything without being sick and not being able to go to the toilet - take him to hospital. When it comes to a child’s health online forums aren’t the way to go, if you have a gut feeling something is wrong, take them to be seen ASAP! In situations like this, if he is being sick every time he eats then it could be a bowel obstruction.

@justamumseekingadvice he’s only being sick at dinner time and is able to eat other foods.
